Multiple outdoor spaces to help connect with nature
The owners of this newly constructed home wanted a more rustic and natural landscape to match the surrounding woodland setting.
The challenge of building on a slope was overcome by using aged granite steps and boulders. These acted as transition points allowing a granite fireplace and seating area to be built. The deck, patio and gazebo are connected by large Goshen Stone walkways. Their irregular edges and shapes helped create the desired rustic effect.
Native sods, including blueberry, wintergreen and bunchberry, were installed along the slope to help minimize erosion.
A variety of other native and ornamental plants were planted to provide season-long color, as well as food sources for birds and other pollinators. A sod lawn was installed for quicker establishment to allow their dogs to enjoy the yard much sooner.
